I have had the same old, extremely uncomfortable, plain white desk chair since my freshman year in college. So I decided to switch to my desk chair from home that once was one of our dining room chairs passed down from my great grandfather. I painted the chair a pale blue (SW "Byte Blue") with some accents in white (SW "Greek Villa") and recovered the cushion with some blue and cream striped fabric. Then I sanded the edges a little so the original wood shows through to give it an older feel. Here's how it turned out...

Project 2: The House
About a month ago, Claire, Ashley and I moved to a cute little house in Lakewood. We love it and are having so much fun decorating :) This is more of an ongoing project, but here are some pictures of the rooms that are finished for the most part. Just a warning- its really girly!!
Living Room
The living room worked out nice because we all had different things- so we didn't have to buy any furniture! It's a lot of white, blue and green.
Kitchen
The kitchen was painted a dark gray/brown color, which I didn't like at first, but now I realize that it really matches everything. We love all the white, glass cabinets and how big and open it is, but our favorite things are the wine cooler and the chandelier!
Laundry Room
Well, it's not really a laundry room, but its the random little room that the laundry closet is in :) The walls in here were already painted the same light sage color as the living room, which matched our flowered rug from the old apartment nicely! In the bottom right corner is the bench that I still need to paint and recover.
Bathroom
This is Ashley's and my bathroom. We just recently got finished painting the walls light blue (they were stark white- it was a little much!) You can't see in the picture, but the tile in the shower is a light blue. Everything was light blue and white, so we started there. I saw this shower curtain as a sample at Target, then had to go to about 6 different Targets to find it! One day Ashley was standing in front of it wearing a coral shirt and we decided that color looked really good with the blue, so we got some coral towels and I painted the little cabinet I found at an antique store in Sulphur Springs coral (still really into painting things :) .... SW "Dishy Coral") Now I think all we lack is a curtain for the window!
Well that's what we've got so far! more to come soon!! Come visit!
Project #1: Living Room Tables
I have had this coffee table for about 4 years. It was my grandmother's and my mom gave it to me in college one year when I needed a table. For years I've been wanting to do something to it to make it fit in better with my shabby chic style. I recently moved into a house with 2 of my good friends from high school and decided I was finally going to do it!
So I decided to paint it and my sofa table (which is the same dark wood). I painted the coffee table base white (SW "Greek Villa") and the sofa table a sort of aqua color (SW "Raindrop"). My friend Laura told me about the sample pints at Sherwin Williams- so I have been using that paint- it goes on so smooth and doesn't take too many coats! I think they turned out pretty cute! I wish the sofa table color had been a shade darker, but it all goes nicely together! I still need to sand them a little to give it that shabby chic look- more photos to come when I am done :)
